Visitors of the Clive Berghofer Events Centre at the Toowoomba Showgrounds will be shocked by the major transformation to the Glenvale Room function centre.
The $500,000 upgrade has been the vision of Royal Agricultural Society of Queensland
chief executive officer Damon Phillips ever since he started working for the society 20 years ago.
“I always envisioned the Glenvale Room as one big open planed area, and the split level design really limited the functionality and versatility of the events we could cater for,” he said.
“This project has been completed over several months after the 2020 show was cancelled and was completed late last month in time for our first wedding on January 24.
“Essentially the lower level was built up with specialised styrofoam building blocks with a cement slab poured on top and new carpet fitted across the 600 metre squared floor area.
“It’s really opened up the function room to an endless number of possibilities and we’ve already have several events booked here for the rest of 2021.”
The renovations, funded by Clive Berghofer, are already paying off with several exciting events and activities in the works over the next few months including an antique pop-up fair this weekend and a barbecuing and meat fest in a few months time.
