Here’s all the exciting events and activities happening around the region this weekend.

1. Take a little trip to France

Want to brush up on your French?

All Francophiles are welcome to attend the Alliance Française de Toowoomba monthly French conversation cafe Saturday at the Kingfisher’s cafe on String St from 10am to 11.30am.

There will be native French speakers, beginners and students of French. Cost is $7 for members and $10 for non-members.

2. Allora Show

Head to the showgrounds today and tomorrow for the 143rd Allora Show and Rodeo.

With show and dog jumping, beef, goats, sheep, poultry and bird judging as well as a pet parade and wildlife show there’s plenty of animals to see and meet on Saturday and the Rodeo tonight will be a night full of great entertainment.

The State ute muster judging is also taking place from noon and the whole family will have a ball watching the FMX motorcycle spectacular, demolition derby and fireworks from 5.30pm.

3. TAS United Open Day

Come along and register for Toowoomba Anglican School United Football Club at the open day, this Sunday from 9am-11am at the TAS Pavilion on the corner of Campbell and Wirra Wirra Streets in East Toowoomba.

This is a free event for players aged from U6 – U17 and there will be games for the kids hosted by TAS United coaches and merchandise available for purchase.

4. Hope Horizons carpark sale and open house

Friends of Hope Horizons are hosting a carpark sale on Sunday from 12-4pm at the Hope Horizons Site at 146 Drayton Rd.

Complete with a six-piece band, hot German waffles, high-end second-hand clothing, craft stalls, sausage sizzle and more it’s bound to be a great afternoon for the whole clan.

Visitors can also receive a tour of the Hope Horizons facility and learn more about all of the incredible services on offer for patients receiving cancer treatment and as well as after their cancer journey.

5. Pop Up Antiques and Collectables Fair

Trove Pop Up Shop are hosting a collector’s ultimate event at the Toowoomba Showgrounds this Friday and Saturday in the newly refurbished Glenvale Room.

Visitors will step back in time to browse and buy treasures of yesteryear including over 5000 LPs and CDs in airconditioned comfort.

Taking place today (Friday, February 5) from 10am to 5pm and Saturday 7am to 3pm.

The Graham Lancaster Auction will be held in the adjoining Founders Pavilion on Saturday with viewing Friday.

6. Creativity in colour and clay

The Toowoomba Art Society is transforming the Culliford Gallery into a collection of works on canvas by three diverse artists, Roslyn Cranch, Edwin Gunn, Jacqui Rahley and Betty Searle complemented by some quirky and quaint creations in clay.

This free event is officially opening at 2pm on Saturday and will be running until February 28.

7. A man’s version of a doll’s house

Explore early Australian rural life recreated by the hands of master “model maker” Rob Prentice at the Rosalie Art Gallery in Goombungee.

Experience the romance of Cobb and Co travel, horse drawn vehicles, Sunday tennis and much more in the miniature scale and enjoy stepping back in time to a simpler era.

The exhibition will be on display at the Rosalie Art Gallery until February 27.

8. Brothers Toowoomba junior sign on day

Brothers Rugby League Club are hosting their juniors sign on day this Saturday from 10am-12pm at the Seniors Clubhouse on Hursley Road.

Head down and meet the coaches for 2021 and pick up a free training shirt once registrations are paid in full.

The 2021 registration fee are $180 for first child and $130 for each additional children, while under 6 is $100.

The team from Withers Dental will also be on site taking orders for custom fit mouth guards to protect your child’s teeth this season.

9. Olympus Cheer open day

Olympus Cheer Toowoomba are excited to host their 2021 open day this Saturday, February 6.

Olympus Cheer offers cheerleading and tumbling classes with fully qualified coaches with over 30 years combined experience.

The free come and try day this Saturday will be running from 10am-12pm at their studio on South St, Harristown.

The Olympus team are welcoming new and existing athletes to come along for an amazing day of cheer and to try one of their classes for free to see what the sport is all about.

The session times are as follows:

10-10:30am – under 12 tumbling session

10:30-11am – under 12 cheer and stunting session

11-11:30am – 12 and over tumbling session

11:30am-12pm – 12 and over cheer and stunting session

10. Farmer’s market

Farmers markets are an essential service to the community.

The Toowoomba Farmers Markets have extra fresh fruit and vegetable stalls to provide customers with access to beautiful local produce, meat and value-added food products and the talented local artisans are back to offer their handmade products.

Toowoomba Farmers Markets run from 7am to 12pm every Saturday at the Cobb and Co Museum under the windmills.
