RANGEVILLE State School Prep student Hannah Lawson bravely stood on school assembly to proudly show her heritage by wearing traditional Korean dress.

Her display was part of Harmony Day celebrations at the school yesterday that included a national costume parade, an Aboriginal smoking ceremony and workshops for the children.

"We see huge benefits in having such a range of families from diverse cultures. By celebrating this diversity we continue to encourage a sense of belonging for all in our wonderful community," acting principal Erin Tonscheck said after watching the colourful national costume parade.

African drumming, Italian music and dance and percussion instruments from the Balkans were explored as part of the interactive workshops.

Harmony Day celebrates Australia's cultural diversity. It's about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
