She is currently the principal of New England Girls' School (NEGS) at Armidale.

She has been an educator for the past 28 years, spending 21 years in the co-educational public school system and seven years at NEGS, four as its principal.

The school said Ms Evans came well qualified for the role at Glennie, with a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma in Education from the University of New England.

She is currently studying for a Masters in Applied Leadership.

"Her educational philosophy encompasses a personalised and holistic educational approach that will enable all of our girls to thrive in their own spiritual, emotional, academic, physical and extracurricular pursuits," the school said.

Ms Evans has three children, all of whom are studying at university.

Sam is studying veterinary science, Ellie is studying commerce and Molly is studying teaching (primary).

"We look forward to welcoming Ms Evans in October," the school said.

"In the meantime, the leadership of The Glennie School will continue with Peter Crawley."
