THE Toowoomba Hospital's emergency department has recorded its busiest day ever, with 204 people seeking urgent medical attention on Monday, June 10.
The hospital's Executive Director Shirley-Anne Gardiner said staff went above and beyond to ensure patients were treated appropriately and as quickly as possible.
"Most of our patients on that day were triaged as category three," Ms Gardiner said.
"These are patients who are seriously ill or injured but are in a stable condition. However, there were also 31 life-threatening or urgent category one and two patients on the day."
On average the ED has seen 165 presentations each day for the month of June.
"Our staff at Toowoomba Hospital work hard each and every day," Ms Gardiner said.
"And even though we can't predict when we will have a record breaking day, our staff, led by the emergency department's Director of Nursing Erin Frost, come together as a team to make sure patients receive the best care possible."
The staff across the hospital also performed 36 surgical procedures and discharged 182 patients on the record breaking day.
