ABOUT 85% of The Chronicle's readers are happy with the price of the Toowoomba Bypass toll.
In a question asked in the online story about the toll prices, 200 people responded to the question 'Are you happy with the toll price for the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing', now known as the Toowoomba Bypass.
About 169 people, or 85 per cent, said yes they were happy, while 31 people, or 15 per cent, said no, they weren't happy.
The Queensland Government last week announced the Toowoomba Bypass will open on September 8.
It will cost motorbikes $1.15 to use the crossing, cars $2.30, light commercial vehicles $5.70 and all trucks $22.85.
Toowoomba residents took to social media to make their voices heard about the toll cost.
"It's cheap enough, especially when you consider fuel and labour savings, plus less wear on machinery," Kendall Shore said.
"It's a very reasonably priced toll, can't wait for it to open," Therese Houghton said.
"I think it's pretty fair actually, better than I expected," Belinda Gilbert said.
"I applaud the tolls. I'd be annoyed if my rego fees paid for a road I don't use, so a user pays system seems very fair," Rob Timmings said.
Though not all were happy with the cost, and the news truckies could be fined if they use the current range, not the new road.
"Yet again the freight industry gets screwed to pay the high toll," Fiona Heilig said,
"That hardly seems fair, especially if the new highway has a mandatory toll," Stuart Thirkettle said.
