Three boaties including a teenage girl have suffered significant burns after an “explosion” in waters off Mission Beach.

Queensland Ambulance Service said it had responded to reports of a “fuel can explosion” aboard a boat at 10.52am.

A QAS spokesman said paramedics met the boat at a boat ramp on the Esplanade at South Mission Beach, Far North Queensland.

He said a male in his 20s and a female teenager had suffered “significant burns” to their lower limbs, while a second female had minor injuries.

All three were transported in stable conditions to Tully Hospital, QAS said.

Additional details about the incident are scant.

Queensland Police Service have been contacted for comment.
