Terence ‘Terry’ Philip Medling fronts Alice Springs Local Court after aggravated assault charge

A Red Centre pastor passed time in court waiting for the mention of his case by reading bible passages.

Terence ‘Terry’ Philip Medling, 73, appeared in Alice Springs Local Court on Wednesday, September 25, facing six charges of aggravated assault.

Dressed in a tie, shirt, and sports jacket, Mr Medling sat in the gallery as his lawyer Harvie Stiller told the court the matter would be “contested”.

To pass the time before his matter was heard, Mr Medling read passages from the bible, and scribbled notes in his dairy.

He listened on from the gallery as Judge David Bamber adjourned his matter to November 21.

Mr Medling was unmoved by the adjournment.

Outside the court, Mr Medling showed frustration upon being photographed by this masthead.

With a police officer walking past, Mr Medling took the officer aside to question how he could be photographed.

He left the court walking and talking to the officer, who explained to Mr Medling no laws were broken as it was a public place.

The Australian previously reported the charges stemmed from allegations Mr Medling pulled a girl under the age of 16 from a car at the end of a Sunday service in February 2023.

The alleged incident took place at Old Timers town camp in Alice Springs, The Australian reported.
