Tasmanian government launches Concessions Guide 2022-23 amid rising cost of living pressures

Eligible Tasmanians struggling to make ends meet will be able to access more than 90 new concessions to help them save money amid a worsening cost of living crisis.
Community Services Minister Nic Street launched the 2022-23 Concessions Guide on Saturday, saying it would be of assistance to those feeling the pinch of rising inflation.
Mr Street said the guide was now available online and hard copies could be obtained at about 500 different organisations next month, including Service Tasmania outlets, council chambers, and other locations.
“The Tasmanian government understands that cost of living pressures are increasing in the state,” he said. “And we’re committed to doing everything we can to support people who need that support.”
The guide contains a wide variety of concessions, focusing on providing support for people with disability and their carers, veterans, widows, sole parents, students, and seniors.
Council on the Ageing general manager Lisa Free said many older Tasmanians were on fixed incomes and therefore felt cost of living pressures more keenly than some others.
“That’s why having access to information about where you can save money is really important,” she said.
“This Concessions Guide is one source of information that’s really valuable for those people who are looking to save money on services and products available to them.”
