Multiple weather alerts are in place across Tasmania over the next few days, with icy conditions and strong winds on the way.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns bush walkers and sheep graziers should prepare for hazardous conditions, cold temperatures and strong westerly winds during Monday.
Snow down to 900m is forecast for parts of the state Monday morning, as well as small hail, single-digit temps and the chance of showers over coming days.
Sea-lovers who ventured down to Dover for Seafest were met with bleak weather, including a brief spell of hail giving way to sunshine.
This comes as a strong cold front approached from the west and crossed Tasmania on Sunday morning.
The chilly spell is expected to bring snow above 800m during the evening.
A sheep graziers warning was has been issued for the South East district for cold temperatures, showers and westerly winds during Monday.
Hail could hit the west and far south from the afternoon.
BOM meteorologist Michael Conway said “a strong cold front” came through overnight Saturday into Sunday, likely moving through towards the east quickly.
“There were some good north westerly gusts, with Kunanyi hitting 126km/h,” Mr Conway said.
“The state’s temperatures will drop down (Monday) with overnight minimums in the single digits, but it will pretty quickly warm up.
“It’s a fairly strong cold front, but it’s pretty typical.”
Meanwhile, the west coast could experience thunderstorms.
Last Wednesday, wild weather struck with more than 19,000 lightening strikes recorded across the north, northwest coast and Great Western Tiers. That resulted in more than 60 vegetation fires being reported.
Also in the west, improving fire conditions has led to the Tullah base camp being packed down and some interstate support crews returning home.
Parks Minister Nick Duigan said the job was not yet over with crews continuing to monitor conditions and responding accordingly.
The west coast fire complex remains active and is being managed by incident response team.
