Premier Jeremy Rockliff is wearing his heart on his sleeve.

He has revealed his love for his three daughters in a very public way by having their names tattooed on his right arm.

Mr Rockliff told the Sunday Tasmanian he was in no way following in the footsteps of his predecessor Peter Gutwein who had a big black panther tattooed on his arm.

“I’m inspired by a lot about Peter but not his tatts,” he said.

“I always wanted to get a tattoo at some point.

“I will most likely get more.”

Mr Rockliff got the tattoo interstate.

He was forced to cut short a planned holiday with his daughters in Queensland when former Attorney-General Elise Archer resigned.

The 53-year-old Premier was able to spend three days in Queensland with daughters Ruby, 18, Lucy, 16, Holly, 15 and posted a photo on social media with them at the Coolangatta Surf Club.

Mr Gutwein’s full-length panther came to light when he was photographed having a Covid vaccination.

“People know I’m a black belt in taekwondo,” he said at the time.

“It’s just a reminder of the hard work and discipline that I put in over a number of years to able to get that black belt.”

He says he’d had the tattoo for “too long to remember”.

Tasmania’s first female Premier Lara Giddings says she’s got no hidden tattoos and no plans to get one anytime soon.

“Having just got back from a family holiday in Fiji where many tourists had tattoos, I’m starting to think I’m now the rebel by not having one,” she said.

“I don’t feel the desire to leave a permanent mark on my body, but respect the fact others do.

“Often their marks have a personal connection which means something to them.”
