More than $50k up for grabs at Tasmanian Young Farmer of the Year competition

Ten young farmers from across the state are vying for the coveted title of 2024 Tasmanian Young Farmer of the Year.

Organised by Rural Youth Tasmania, the event is open to farmers aged 15 to 30 who want to test their agricultural skills and knowledge against their peers.

With a prize pool valued up to $50,000 at stake, including a Polaris Ranger S30 valued at $17,000, competitors will engage in a series of challenges to test their farming expertise, innovation, and problem-solving abilities.

This year’s finalists are Annalise Rayner, Ashtyn Willey, Charlton Skirving, Chelsea Rayner, Chloe Temple, Dylan Bellchambers, Jake Williams, Jordan Burr, Matthew Wadley, and Zac Leonard. The final will take place at Quercus Park, Carrick, on Saturday, August 24.

Rural Youth Tasmania vice president Amber Bramich said the individuals demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, earning their place in the final round of the event.

“We are incredibly proud of the talent and passion demonstrated by this year’s entrants,” Ms Bramich said.

“The 2024 Woolworths Young Farmer of the Year Competition is more than just a contest; it’s a celebration of the innovation and dedication that young farmers bring to our agricultural community.

“We look forward to an exciting final and wish all the finalists the best of luck. We are sure this is going to be a very tight competition, and the prized title of Young Farmer of the Year will be a tough fight.”
