One of Hobart’s most popular pastry spots has announced they are closing their doors, but all is not lost for fans of their delicious sweets.
Lady Hester announced on their Facebook page this morning they were going to close their Battery Point store at the end of this week.
Owner Loren Clarke described the decision as “bitter sweet”.
“After two years, we’re saying goodbye to our beautiful shop and fantastic wholesale partners and taking some much needed time to rest and hang out with our families,” Ms Clarke posted on the business’ Facebook page.
“Epic thank you’s to everybody who has bought a coffee, donut, cake, biccy and supported us for the past two years, we are grateful and appreciative every day.
“An equally huge thank you to our glorious staff members - Maybell, Tess, Tallney, Alex, Mike and Jorja who came with us on this very unplanned journey.
“In every way, we couldn’t have done this without you.
“Finally, a shout out to my sister Erin, who made this little dream a reality and kept our business going and everybody employed through a global pandemic (while I had some babies). What an eventful eight years we’ve had after deciding to start baking stuff together.”
Ms Clarke also revealed Lady Hester’s delectable sweets would still be available at certain events and markets, which was how the business originally made a name for itself before setting up shop in Battery Point.
