A Hobart man will face Supreme Court trial next year after pleading not guilty to the attempted murder of another man during an alleged shooting at Herdsmans Cove in January.

Sam Graham Sokolski, 29, appeared before Magistrate Chris Webster in Hobart on Tuesday, facing a range of charges including possessing a shortened firearm, selling ammunition, not holding an appropriate firearm license, and possessing a silencer.

Police have alleged Mr Sokolski, alongside another person, shot a man at a Calvert Crescent property in Herdsmans Cove on January 18 this year, that the parties were known to each other, and that the incident was targeted.

On the attempted murder charge, Magistrate Webster committed Mr Sokolski to appear in the Supreme Court on 24 March next year.

Mr Sokolski pleaded not guilty to all remaining counts, and was bailed to reappear in the Magistrates Court on 12 February.
