Already in more than 170 locations, burger franchise Grill’d is moving into Tasmania for the first time.
Opening in North Hobart on Friday, the fast food outlet will be serving up 745 free burgers.
The freebie is how Grill’d has celebrated all new restaurant openings and refurbishments over the past 12 months — coinciding with the company’s 20 year birthday.
With burgers expected to be snapped up, those who miss out will have the chance for a $10 deal this Saturday and Sunday with extra festivities.
The decision to do so is “a nod” to Grill’d’s first restaurant street address in Hawthorn 20-years-ago, founder and managing director Simon Crowe said.
“For years we’ve had numerous Tasmanians visit one of our restaurants on the mainland, and for years we’ve been aware of the demand to bring Grill’d to Tassie,” Mr Crowe said.
“We’ve listened and we’re finally delivering the world’s most delicious healthiest burgers to the Apple Isle.”
He said the restaurant would bring incredible tasting, healthy food with a focus on sustainability.
“I’ve been coming to Tasmania for over 10 years and bringing people from all around, to this amazing place,” he said.
It’s expected to create 50-60 employment opportunities, Mr Crowe says.
Located at 349 Elizabeth St, North Hobart, Grill’d will be open from 10am on December 6.
