Elon Musk has lashed out at Jacqui Lambie, calling her an ‘enemy of Australia’ after she called him a ‘disgrace’ and deleted her X account.
Australia’s e-safety commissioner ordered the content be taken down from X, Twitter and Instagram, but X refused, arguing it had already restricted the content from being visible in Australia.
X was temporarily ordered to hide the posts until a final court decision will be made on May 10.
Senator Lambie said Musk, who owns X, was a “social media knob with no social conscience” and that he “should be in jail”.
Early on Wednesday morning, Musk responded to a comment which said Senator Lambie “should be jail”.
“Absolutely. She is an enemy of the people on Australia,” Musk said in a reply.
Ms Lambie had more than 73,000 followers on X, before she deleted her account
this week.
Musk has also locked horns with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who has also said the videos should be taken down.
Mr Albanese has previously said Musk was “out of touch with what the Australian public want” and that he had “chosen ego and showing violence over common decency.
