Man stabbed in face during fight at Garbutt

A 32-year-old man suffered facial injuries after he was stabbed during a fight in Townsville.

Police are searching for a man who stabbed another in the face during a fight outside a store in Garbutt.

District duty officer Senior Sergeant Joe Matheson said a fight occurred between two males about 1.15am.

A 32-year-old man was rushed to Townsville University Hospital with facial injuries as a result.

Police responded to reports of two men fighting outside Super Cheap Auto on Duckworth Street, with the attacker fleeing the scene in a small hatchback shortly.

Senior Sergeant Matheson said both men were known to each other.

“The man who was transported to hospital suffered facial cuts from a sharp instrument,” he said.

“This does appear to be a targeted attack, it was not a random incident. At this point, no one has been taken into custody.”
