YEAR 12 students across the state sat the first day of the QCS test yesterday, but nowhere was the test more significant than the Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School.
This year marked the first time TACAPS had participated in the test, as Year 12s were only introduced to the school this year.
Head of School Simon Lees said it was a proud day for the school.
"It's a great milestone," Mr Lees said.
"We've been preparing for this for over five years and the Year 12 students have been preparing for it for the last couple of years.
"It's really a symbolic end point (to the introduction of year 12s at the school)."
Head girl Eden Lingard said the writing task and multiple choice tests yesterday was not as stressful as she thought it would be.
"It was a bit daunting, especially when you're the first ones going through it and have to set an example to future Year 12s," she said.
"But I feel like I was really prepared and I feel I can say that the rest of the cohort was too."
The introduction of QCS will be short lived, with a new ATAR system set to be introduced in 2020.
"As a new school, this has allowed us to experience the tried and tested system," Mr Lees said. "But we're also really excited about the new system."
The QCS test continues today with a short response and second multiple choice test.
