Police are searching for both the victim and offender of an alleged domestic violence attack after a man was seen stabbing a woman multiple times in the Alice Springs CBD.

At 4.43am on Saturday NT Police received information that a 25-year-old woman had been stabbed outside a store on Todd Street.

Nearby CCTV allegedly captured a 32-year-old man, who is believed to be the woman’s partner, stabbing her multiple times with an edged weapon – but police said the footage was not sufficiently clear enough to establish what kind of weapon was used, or the severity of the injuries.

The alleged offender fled prior to police arrival at the scene, and the victim got into a car which drove away as officers arrived.

That car, a white commodore with a white decal across the front windscreen, was believed to be involved in the incident.

Police said it was likely the woman had “sustained substantial injuries”.

A crime scene was declared and investigations are ongoing.

The victim and the alleged offender have now been identified and police are urging anyone who may have witnessed, or have information about the incident to make contact on 131 444 as soon as possible, quoting reference number NTP2500063207.
