A regional Queensland cancer wellness centre that was ravaged by a plant thief has had their luck turned around overnight.
Hope Horizons volunteer gardener John Randall was left heartbroken when a large number of plants were stolen from his beloved garden at the Jenny Black Wellness Centre.
In a whirlwind event, a mere 24 hours later a random stranger would walk through their doors with a donation that would restore their faith in humanity.
General manager Jo Capp said the generous donor wasn’t aware of the theft and had coincidentally donated the exact sum needed to replace the stolen plants.
“She had no idea and had spent the weekend at a family reunion where they used a swear jar to raise the money,” she said.
The stolen plants were yet to be put on display and had been gifted to the wellness centre, with an estimated value of $1000.
Ms Capp said there’s no grudge against the person who stole the plants and she hoped they would be used for good.
Improved security measures have since been put in place at the wellness centre.
