Emergency services were called to Adelaide Oval after a woman in her 60s suffered heatstroke on the famous roof climb.

A woman aged in her 60s has been rushed to hospital after suffering a medical episode while climbing on the roof of Adelaide Oval.

A spokesperson for SA Ambulance said the woman was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital to be treated for heatstroke.

Emergency services were called at 11.40am to Adelaide Oval on War Memorial Drive at North Adelaide for a rescue following a roof climb.

An Adelaide Oval spokeswoman said the morning’s climb was “conducted in line with our safe weather operating conditions”.

“Thankfully incidents of this nature are very rare and we’d like to thank emergency services for assisting us with the care of our climber,” she said.

“We wish her a speedy recovery and hope to welcome her back at another time.”

The RoofClimb Adelaide Oval wesbite said the climbs go ahead “in all weather conditions, with the exception of electrical and hail storms, or excessively strong wind conditions”.

The temperature was 39 degrees in Adelaide early on Saturday afternoon.
