The local cricket community is mourning the death of beloved Grange Cricket Club life member Michael ‘Weed’ Fry.
A passionate supporter, Mr Fry died on Monday afternoon after suffering a brain aneurysm shortly after watching his beloved Dolphins play in the semi finals at Grange Oval.

“His contribution to the club on the field included, 251 games, 413 wickets (ranked 11th highest in the club) and scored 1143 runs as a tail end batter.
“He Captained the F Troop and coached the juniors for a number of years, and was awarded Life Membership in 2003.
“Weed continued to be an avid supporter of the players and the club well after his playing days ceased.
“His memory will live on forever at Grange and we know he is with Barry and May and will be keeping a keen eye on the forthcoming grand finals.”
The Port Adelaide Cricket Club also paid tribute to Mr Fry, announcing that the fourth grade boys team will wear black armbands in his honour at Saturday’s grand final.
“The PACC committee and members are saddened to hear of the passing of club supporter Michael ‘Weed’ Fry earlier this week in sudden and unexpected circumstances,” they wrote.
“Michael is the father of fantastic club man Blake Fry, and we would like to pass on our sincere and heartfelt condolences to Blake, his mum Donna and sister Emily in these very sad times.
“The 4th grade boys will wear black armbands in their Grand Final this Saturday.”
A GoFundMe has been set up by friend Mandy Kidd to support his family.
“It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating loss of our friend Michael (Weed) a devoted husband, loving father and friend to many,” Ms Kidd wrote.
“His passing has left an unimaginable void in the lives of his beloved family.
“Whilst we cannot take away their pain, we can come together to offer support in the way Weed would have done for us.”
