Two people have been taken to hospital after a battery sparked a fire at a northern suburbs home overnight.
The MFS responded to a structure fire on McNicoll Rd, Paralowie, just after 1am on Thursday morning.
On arrival, firefighters found the home severely smoke logged.
A dozen firefighters from two trucks quickly found the battery which had caught alight at the rear of the property.
Two occupants of the home were taken to hospital, one suffering burns and the other as a precaution.
The fire caused an estimated damage bill of $30,000 and prompted a warning from the MFS.
“The MFS would like to remind the community to always charge batteries on hard, flat services, away from combustibles and to not leave devices charging overnight or unattended,” an MFS spokesperson said.
