‘Still gives shivers’: CoCo Bubble Tea Munno Para robbed of $1k cash, staff member threatened

A knife-wielding man is on the run after allegedly threatening a staff member and stealing $1000 from a Smithfield bubble tea shop.

Visiting CoCo Bubble Tea at the Munno Para shopping centre at 7.15pm on Monday night, CCTV acquired by 7NEWS showed the man reaching over the counter to get to the till.

The woman working at the time was “pretty shook”, CoCo Bubble Tea owner, Rish, told 7NEWS.

“Someone just came in and took all the money with them, emptied the till,” Rish said.

“It was close to a grand roughly, money is still fine but of course the impact it had on staff, she does say she’s feeling better but these kinds of things do have an impact on you.

“She didn’t do anything rash, she was calm about it. Once he was gone she called the police, she called us, she called the security.

“This is the first time something like this has happened so [it’s] pretty scary of course when you think of it, when you think of the staff, something like this happening it still gives shivers.”

Police attended the bubble tea shop on Monday evening but were unable to catch the alleged robber who remained on the run on Tuesday.
