Smithfield Plains man, 36, allegedly brought ‘toy gun’ on board Adelaide Metro train

Staff on the northern suburbs train line alerted police after the man allegedly threatened security.

A man has been arrested on a train after allegedly threatening security with a gun overnight.

At 8pm on Saturday, police were called to the Chidda railway station in Salisbury after reports a man on-board was carrying an imitation firearm.

Police allege the man had threatened security guards with the toy gun.

The train stopped at the station after security contacted police.

No one was injured in the altercation, but a 36-year-old man from Smithfield Plains was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and disorderly behaviour.

He was bailed and is due to appear at the Elizabeth Magistrates Court in September.

He has also been issued a three-month transit banning order.
