Barossa man, 59, dead after motorbike crash

Police are investigating the death of a 59-year-old Barossa man who died after crashing his motorcycle into a tree.

Police are investigating the death of a 59-year-old Barossa man, who died after crashing into a tree at Vine Vale, near Tanunda in the Barossa Valley.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Light Pass Rd and Basedow Rd after a single motorcyclist crashed, just after 5.30pm Friday.

Police said the rider had veered off the road and collided with a tree.

The man died at the scene.

The intersection remained closed for several hours while Major Crash investigators examined the scene.

Light Pass Rd and Basedow Rd have since been reopened to all traffic.

The man’s death takes the state’s road toll to 33, compared to 16 the same time last year.
