The manhunt prompted a lockdown of students, staff and parents from Blackfriars Priory School, at the Prospect campus.

The lockdown, which was triggered just after school was scheduled to finish, forced students – and their parents – back to classrooms, as police searched for the man on the school grounds and nearby streets.

Blackfriars Priory School concluded the lockdown at about 3.30pm.

Police say they know the identity of the man and are working with Australian Border Force in relation to the man’s immigration status

He was last seen on Ballville St and is described as a 25-year-old man of Indian appearance, about 170cm tall with a dark complexion, slim build and short black hair.

Anyone with information about the man’s whereabouts, as well as anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the area, is being urged to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
