Port’s stunning semi final win over Hawthorn was marred with post match controversy, but Archie the dog believes Ken’s bark has nothing on the Power’s bite.

Beloved family dog Archie has rallied his paws around Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley, after a controversial incident at last Friday night’s semi-final victory game.

Archie’s owner, Andrej Wojciechowski of Glenelg North, said the family – who are all long-time Port Adelaide fans – decided to dress their 8-year-old border collie in the ‘Yes We Ken’ t-shirt- after witnessing the backlash Hinkley received after a wild outburst at Hawthorn.

The AFL handed down its sanction on Sunday night and slapped Hinkley with a $20,000 fine.

“We’ve had those t-shirts over the years, so with Ken copping all the pressure through the year my son Jude, thought we (should) show more support for Ken and get Archie on board,” Mr Wojciechowski said.

“So, we paused the video and got him to watch the TV.”

Mr Wojciechowski said Archie “loves kicking the footy around” before cheekily admitting that the family would have “adopted him out” if he supported any other football club.

Hinkley unleashed a verbal barrage in the direction of Hawks forward Jack Ginnivan after the 21-year-old ignited tensions during the week with a cheeky social media comment.

The Power coach conceded Jack Ginnivan’s infamous “see you in 14 days” Instagram comment got under his and his club’s skin and was used “a fair bit” in the build-up to the final.

The 57-year-old was overcome with emotion after the siren, and had singled out Ginnivan for a spray before he got involved in another slanging match with Hawks skipper James Sicily.

“We understand it is a passionate game with a lot at stake for all clubs, however Ken made a decision to engage with opposition players post-match — a decision he has since admitted was the wrong one,” AFL General Counsel Stephen Meade said in the statement.

“Ken has acknowledged that his emotions got the better of him in the moment, however as a senior coach his actions fell well below what is expected by the AFL.
