A popular Adelaide Vietnamese restaurant chain will consolidate their stores into a bigger location in 2025.

Miss Mai has operated in Adelaide’s CBD since 2012. The first store opened in James Place, before other stores in Gawler Place and Pirie St. Lines are often seen stretched down the street during lunchtime.

Owners Warren and Kim Jones will now look to consolidate into a new, larger location on the corner of Gawler Place and Pirie St, having already closed down their original Pirie St location.

“We’re kind of rationalising,” Mr Jones said.

“[The corner of] Pirie St and Gawler Place is our ideal location because it’s located next to the most busy intersection, with the most pedestrians.”

“It’s actually a better location than the previous two stores.”

Because of their larger new location, Miss Mai is taking the opportunity to expand their menu offerings.

“We’re able to do a few extra things, for instance we’re planning on doing Vietnamese coffee, which we haven’t done before. That’ll be a nice addition,” Mr Jones said.

Having one store allows Miss Mai to consolidate their stock, which they have had to move between the two stores previously.

“Generally we have to make deliveries, one shop to the other,” Mr Jones said.

“It’s a lot of extra work, one big shop in a good location just makes more sense to us.”

The long lines and solid customer base at Miss Mai has given Mr Jones confidence that the store can succeed in their new location.

“We’ve been in business since 2012, so we’ve got a formula that we’re fairly confident with,” he said.

“We’ve got many, many retained customers, so we’ve got a good customer base.”

Mr Jones’s wife Kim was the original chef of Miss Mai, with her recipes still in use.

The new Miss Mai location will open in the first half of 2025.

The Gawler Place store remains open for business.
