Police are searching for two men who allegedly stole a car and slammed into a house at Alberton, narrowly avoiding injuring a baby.

The crash happened just before 5am on Monday, and 7NEWS reported that the two occupants were briefly trapped.

However, an innocent bystander helped the pair out of the car, allowing them to flee on foot.

The silver Toyota Kluger station wagon initially hit a parked car at the King St home, but the impact then forced the stationary vehicle through the front wall, into a room where a family was sleeping.

They included a four-year-old boy and a baby, all of whom were uninjured.

Police said the vehicle was stolen from an Oakden address on Tuesday, November 12.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.

Earlier that morning, police also arrested a 16-year-old boy who broke into a car and reversed it into a nearby house.

The teenager and an unidentified companion allegedly broke into the parked sedan on Union St, Tonsley, just before 2am.

After piecing together CCTV footage, police alleged that after gaining entry to a garage, the teenager reversed out of the driveway, clipping another car and hitting an outside wall.

No one was injured in the collision, and the car fled the scene.

A Clovelly Park teenager was arrested a short time later on foot, and the car located nearby at Mitchell Park, but the other suspect remains at large.

He was charged with serious criminal trespass, theft, illegal use, property damage and failing to stop at the scene of a crash.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Youth Court on Monday.

Police are also investigating multiple reports of cars broken into the area overnight.

Anyone who believes that their car has been interfered with overnight should report it on the police assistance line on 131 444.
