Two 17-year-old boys have been arrested after shots were fired at an Andrews Farm home on Monday morning, striking a person inside.
Police were called to a home on Eton Drive about 4am and found two holes in the house consistent with bullet holes.
An 18-year-old man inside the home was wounded in the leg and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
SA Police said officers found a car nearby with two teenagers inside who were arrested.
The boys, both aged 17 and from Munno Para and Smithfield Plains, have been charged with possessing ammunition without a licence and failing to answer questions.
Police said a firearm was found in another vehicle near the crime scene and has been seized for forensic examination.
It is understood police are investigating whether the suspects targeted the wrong house in the shooting.
Neighbour Karen Willis, 41, said the incident had left her shaken.
“If I’m honest, I think it was targeted because this is a quiet area and there are a lot of families here,” she said.
“The young lad gets people parked across the road and comes out of the house …
“My daughter heard what seemed like someone jumping a fence, but it could’ve been gun shots because they sounded a bit the same.
“If this was gang-related or targeted and they know they didn’t kill him, how do we know he won’t come back?”
Ms Willis said she had seen the car that the arrested youths were found in around the area previously.
Another resident, Andrew Robinson, 51, said the family were lovely, with very polite and friendly children.
“I was very surprised, they’re all lovely boys,” he said.
“They always wave and say ‘Hi Andrew’ when I pass them by. Probably just a case of being mixed up with the wrong crowd.”
It’s understood officers from Operation Meld are assisting with investigations.
Operation Meld was formed in 2021 to tackle criminal offending by groups of youths.
In October Assistant Commissioner Scott Duval said the operation had successfully arrested at least 10 people within the span of a week.
It’s alleged the arrested men were linked to gangs that have been previously identified by Operation Meld, which includes the northern groups known as the Killa Block Squad (KBS) or 051.
The 17-year-old boys arrested over the latest shooting were granted bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on February 7.
