Man dead, woman charged after serious crash on the Stuart Highway in state’s Far North

A man has died while a driver has been charged following a crash in the state’s Far North.

A man has died and a woman has been charged after a car crashed into a tree in the state’s Far North.

Police and emergency services were called to the Stuart Highway at Kootaberra – about 50km north of Port Augusta – after reports a VW Tiguan had crashed.

A rear-seated passenger of the vehicle – a 63-year-old man from Victoria – died at the scene of crash.

The driver and two further occupants were taken to hospital with minor injuries as Major Crash investigators attended the scene.

Following investigations the driver of the vehicle – a 61-year woman – was arrested and has been charged with cause death by dangerous driving.

She has been refused bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The Stuart Highway was closed for several hours and reopened at 2.30am.

The man’s death is the 42nd life lost on SA road’s this year.

Man killed in car rollover on major highway

A man has died following a crash on the Stuart Highway in the state’s Far North.

Emergency services were called to the Stuart Highway after reports of a Toyota HiLux ute had rolled at Wirraminna, about 35km east of Glendambo, just after 8.15pm on Sunday.

The driver and sole occupant, a 68-year-old NSW man, died at the scene.

Roads were closed on Sunday night as Major Crash officers attended the scene but have since reopened.

The man’s death is the 41st life lost on South Australian roads this year.
