One of Australia’s largest urban renewal projects is set to grow by a further 110 homes following land rezoning in Adelaide’s north.
Planning Minister Nick Champion has started the Playford Alive East Code Amendment, which will see employment land at Munno Para rezoned to residential land, growing the Playford Alive East development.
Mr Champion said this demonstrated the government’s commitment to tackling the housing crisis.
“We are building more homes, selling more homes and unlocking even more homes in this thriving community,” Mr Champion said.
“Every home we build, every allotment we release for sale and every piece of land we rezone is about giving more South Australians a fair go at home ownership.”
It comes as 22 new allotments at Playford Alive’s Woodland Precinct come on the market on Thursday.
Mr Champion said the development will include a mix of block types, from compact urban villa blocks to larger traditional lots.
At the same time, work is progressing on 25 new affordable rental homes in Playford Alive.
The new homes are being delivered through the Renewal SA Builders Panel, established last year to help streamline delivery of homes.
Members of Renewal SA’s Builders Panel at Playford Alive, Noarlunga and Seaton have delivered almost 200 homes, the state government said.
