Kyrie Horspool has been identified as the young boy killed in a tragic accident in Adelaide’s north last week.
Kyrie, 2, was struck by a vehicle at Tyrepower Elizabeth in the shop’s Peachey Rd car park on Friday morning, dying at the scene.
Kyrie is survived by dad Bradley Horspool, mum Danielle Slaughter, and five-year-old brother Kobi.
The Salisbury North Football Club and Salisbury Athletics Club, of which Kyrie’s family have been members of, have joined the chorus of tributes for Kyrie.
In a Facebook post, the football club said the “terrible tragedy” was “close to home for some of us here at the Hawk’s Nest”.
“Nobody is ever prepared for something as devastating as what happened to this poor little man,” they said.
The Salisbury Athletics Club said “as life members”, their thoughts were with Kyrie’s family “in this heartbreaking time”.
Flowers, notes and children’s toys were left at Tyrepower Elizabeth over the weekend, including a letter from his “Nanny and Grandad” that said “love you my beautiful grandson, love you now and forever”.
Another person sticky-taped a note to the fence describing the young boy as a “blessing”.
“The world lost part of its sunshine today,” they wrote.
“Your beautiful, cheeky smile will be missed by so many. You were such a light to everyone who knew you. A true blessing in typical boy form.
“Love you always, my chunky.”
Cluse Bros Tyrepower Elizabeth closed its gates to customers over the weekend, instead redirecting existing bookings to another store at Elizabeth Way.
