Two teenagers and a young man have been released on home detention bail after a wild overnight car theft in which two BMWs were stolen and a Medindie resident was left with over $40,000 in property damage.

Kye Nicholson, 20, of Christie Downs, Corey Galvin, 18, of Hackham West and Dwayne Wanganeen, 18, of Christies Beach, all fronted Christies Beach Magistrates Court via video link on Wednesday awaiting the findings of a home detention report.

The trio are yet to enter pleas to one charge of property damage and four theft charges after they allegedly stole two BMWs and a Louis Vuitton wallet from a property in Medindie about 4am last Thursday.

Magistrate Kylie Schulz warned the young men, who appeared at separate times, the importance of home detention bail.

Kye Nicholson has been charged with property damage and four counts of theft after two BMWs were stolen from Medindie.

“You must stay there (home detention address) at all times unless there is some sort of medical or dental emergency – or basically a risk to life or limb,” Ms Schulz said.

“I can’t emphasise the seriousness of home detention bail. It will be revoked if you don’t comply.”

Ms Schulz also imposed a no-contact clause in the bail agreement, prohibiting the three accused’s from communicating with each other.

Last week, a police prosecutor said the owner of the house allegedly woke up to his dog barking and was alerted to the robbery by his home-security system.

“He looks out of his window and sees the gate to his driveway has been forced open from the inside so that the gate has been forced outwards,” they said. “The damage to the gate is estimated to be about $20,000.

“Both of his cars are missing from his driveway. He goes to check where he keeps his car keys and both sets are missing, along with his wallet containing all his bank cards, a Louis Vuitton wallet containing his wife’s bank cards and a small bag that contained the house keys.

“There’s also a support post in the front veranda that was knocked out as well, and that’s estimated to be another $20,000 to repair.”

The court previously heard Mr Nicholson was on bail at the time of the alleged offending for a drug trafficking charge. He is yet to enter pleas to that charge.

The trio will next appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in January.
