There’s been a twist revealed in the death of a Peterborough man killed in a single-car crash this week.

The daughter of a 43-year-old Peterborough man killed in a single-car crash this week has said she feels empty without him despite not being in contact with her dad for the past few years.

Maria Sobey shared her heartache days after dad Jesse Sobey – a father of three – died in a horror crash in the state’s Mid North on Monday morning.

“While life took us on different paths and we hadn’t been in contact in recent years, the news of his passing has deeply affected me,” she said.

It has since been revealed that Sobey, who had a Nazi symbol tattooed on his chest and is said to have embraced a “skinhead culture”, died on the day he was due to appear at Port Adelaide Magistrate Court.

When talking to The Advertiser, his daughter admitted that while they had been estranged, she would still focus on the good memories she had from her childhood.

“Despite the distance, I will always cherish the memories of my childhood and the times we shared,” she added.

“Though part of me regrets the time we didn’t have together in recent years, I hope he knew that he was always in my thoughts and that I loved him dearly – despite everything I think there will always be a part of me that feels empty without you here dad.

“I hope you’re finally at peace now.”

It comes just days after it was revealed Sobey died just weeks before his youngest child was set to turn one.
