Jayden John Sansbury made no application for bail after allegedly firing a shot at a home in Birkenhead last month

A man has faced court for the first time after a shot was allegedly fired at a home in what police say was not a random incident.

A man will remain in custody after a shot was allegedly fired in the western suburbs last month.

Jayden John Sansbury, 24, made no application for bail in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday over the alleged serious offences.

Police allege that a firearm was discharged over a house in Mead St, Birkenhead about 8.15pm on January 29.

Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Following investigations, Mr Sansbury, of Prospect, was arrested yesterday and charged with discharging a firearm recklessly, possessing a firearm without a licence and failing to answer questions put by a police officer. He is yet to enter any pleas.

Police wish to reassure the community that this was not a random incident.

Investigations are continuing.

On Monday, Magistrate Justin Wickens remanded Mr Sansbury in custody and adjourned the charges until June.

“We’ll see you then if we don’t see you before for a bail application,” he said.
