James Mulholland pleads guilty to sexually abusing child over multiple years

A former CFS volunteer and southern suburbs photographer has pleaded guilty to sexual abusing a child and offences relating to exploitation material.
On Wednesday, James Mulholland, 29, appeared via video link from custody in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to face the seven charges against him.
Magistrate Brian Nitschke heard prosecution were seeking to withdraw four of those charges, and Mulholland entered pleas to the remaining charges.
“Guilty”, Mulholland said from the screen.
The Aldinga Beach man is known for his work in car photography, and, according to his social media, was a volunteer for the Virginia CFS brigade.
Mulholland has pleaded guilty to maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child, knowingly being in possession of child exploitation material and disseminating child exploitation material.
Documents released to The Advertiser by the court revealed the unlawful sexual relationship charge related to more than 10 incidents with a child under the age of 17 between October 2020 and February 2024.
The documents further allege he was disseminating the exploitation material in the same time period, and was in possession of it in February.
According to his social media, Mr Mulholland spent time working as a fly-in-fly-out worker before starting his business, Ambitious Photography.
Mr Nitschke remanded Mulholland in custody for arraignment in the District Court in November.
