Ingle Farm P-plate driver reported for drink driving after crashing into North Adelaide business

A P-plate driver has a date with court after he allegedly crashed into a North Adelaide business overnight while drink driving.

A P-plate driver who crashed his car into the front of a North Adelaide business overnight has lost his licence on the spot.

Police were called to a business on Ward St just before 11.45pm on Wednesday after reports a black Suzuki crashed into the cafe’s veranda and knocked a support pole out of place.

Patrols were quickly on scene and located a witness who pointed out that the driver got out of the vehicle and walked away, east from the crash scene.

Police were able to quickly catch up with a man a short distance away.

That man, a 22-year-old from Ingle Farm, was spoken to by police and submitted to a breath test where he returned a positive result of 0.090.

Further checks on the man revealed that he was a P-plater.

The man did not sustain any injuries from the crash but the vehicle was damaged and had to towed from the scene.

The man was reported for drink driving, breaching his P-plate licence conditions and aggravated driving without due care. He was also issued with a 6-month loss off licence.

He will be summoned to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.
