Huge push for Peking Duk Bunnings rave to come to Adelaide

After a social media storm, retail giant Bunnings confirmed it would hold a rave – now the push is on for Adelaide to host the party. So which SA warehouse is the main contender?

SA wants the Peking Duk Bunnings rave

South Australians are campaigning for the Bunnings rave to be held in SA after the iconic Aussie retail giant committed to hosting the party.

Retail giant Bunnings delighted electric music fans when they came to the party and committed to host a rave this August after popular electronic music duo Peking Duk sparked a social media frenzy.

Peking Duk posted a video to TikTok last week with a remix of Bunnings’ iconic advertising jingle with a call to arms from their fans; tag Bunnings to make the rave happen.

And, Bunnings answered the call, confirming the rave would happen.

Now, Adelaide community radio station Fresh FM is leading the charge in bringing the show to SA.

A FreshFM spokesperson said the push to bring the Aussie electronic music duo to Adelaide started during the station’s Monday morning’s Brekkie show.

“While Tom and Callum are on annual leave at the moment, fill-in announcer Steph did the call out to Fresh listeners to see which Bunnings they’d like to see Peking Duk perform at,” the spokesperson said.

“We had an overwhelming response from listeners on the text line – majority suggesting the Bunnings at Noarlunga as it is currently empty.

“And what a great suggestion. A warehouse party in an empty Bunnings is an absolute no-brainer.”

Listeners agreed the location in Adelaide’s south would be perfect.

“Bunnings Noarlunga is in a new massive building, single storey, load of parking, junk food next door, heaven,” one listener said.

“Bunnings Noarlunga which they just moved into new premises. Completely empty, huge open space, massive rave party and plenty of parking,” another listener told the station.

Fresh FM said Peking Duk was the headline act at the station’s annual birthday party celebrations a few years ago and were proud to spruik the music duo – who also gave the station a shout out at their most recent Adelaide performance for being the first to spin their music on radio.

Reuben Styles, one part of Peking Duk alongside Adam Hyde, took to social to share his delight the rave would happen.

“The people have spoken and Bunnings have listened. We’re doing this. Y’all made this happen. Oh my God, we’re going to have a rave with Bunnings,” he said in a video on TikTok.

“We still don’t know where. So pick a spot, pick a state, pick a Bunnings, where do you want to do this party?

“Where are we going to do this? Let’s party, let’s rave.”
