Glenelg East man, 20, arrested after punching on duty paramedic who came to his aid

A young man has been arrested after allegedly injuring an on duty paramedic who came to his aid after a late night Jetty Road altercation.

A young man has been arrested after he allegedly punched the paramedic who was trying to him help.

Police allege emergency services including ambulance crews attended Jetty Road in Glenelg after reports a man had been assaulted about 10.35pm on Friday night.

They searched the area and located the man on Brighton Rd about 15 minutes later.

When an ambulance officer attempted to help the man, he punched the paramedic and ran off.

The paramedic suffered minor injuries.

Police later located the suspect on Partridge St and arrested him.

The 20-year-old Glenelg East man will face charges of assaulting a prescribed emergency worker.
