Four-year-old boy transported to hospital with lacerations after dog bite

A young child has been taken to hospital after being bitten in the face by a dog at Pennington Primary School.

A four-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being bitten by a dog near Pennington Primary School on Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the school just before 4.30pm after reports the child was playing on a playground next to the school when the attack occurred.

The boy was then rushed to the school next door where first aid was administered before an ambulance arrived.

Basam Hafiz, the father of the young victim, told 9News his son was playing with his brother at the park next to the school, when the attack occurred.

“There’s a loose dog basically and it’s taken a chunk … bitten my son across his face,” he said.

The child suffered lacerations to the face and was taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital with his mother.

It is unclear what breed the dog was or where the owner was during the attack.

The owner and the dog reportedly left the scene before authrotieis could arrive.
