A popular butcher in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs has abruptly shut down amid claims it owes a landlord outstanding rent.
Erindale Gourmet Meats, in Kensington Gardens, has blocked out its windows and put up signs announcing the closure to customers.
Auctioneer Andrew Maros confirmed the property would be auctioned off on August 21 under instructions from the landlord.
“It’s definitely happening – he (the owner) just couldn’t make it happen in the end and the landlord’s trying to get him out,” he said.
“I really believe the landlord’s actually tried to help him out because he’s done heaps for him, but it’s just the only way to kind of solve the problem.
“It was just going backwards in a rapid rate of knots unfortunately.”
The business has been contacted for comment.
