There was a monster traffic jam on Tuesday morning at the foot of the South Eastern Freeway after a truck broke down at the start of rush hour.

Just before 7am, a large truck was reported having difficulties at the intersection of Glen Osmond Rd and Mount Barker Rd at Urrbrae.

Police went to the scene to divert traffic while a tow truck worked quickly to remove the vehicle and alleviate the morning traffic jam.

Traffic was reportedly banked up behind the truck as far as the Heysen Tunnels, slowing movement into Adelaide.
