Stolen car crashes into police patrol | Man stabbed in Rosewater

A man driving a stolen car has been arrested after he allegedly crashed into a police car after speeding through Adelaide’s west.

Two people have been arrested after driving dangerously through Adelaide’s west, shortly before the stolen vehicle crashed into a patrol car.

The black Volvo station wagon was spotted by police in St Vincent St at Port Adelaide at about 2am Friday.

The police helicopter was deployed and the speeding car was tracked along Port Rd towards the city.

A passenger got out and ran from the vehicle then the driver pulled into Fenner Ave, Cowandilla — a dead-end street.

As the stolen Volvo tried to evade police it crashed into the patrol car.

It eventually came to a stop on nearby Spencer St and the driver fled on foot.

Police dogs Judge and Ace tracked the suspect to the yard of a nearby home on Turner St and the passenger was found shortly after.

The driver, a Melrose Park man, 20 was arrested and charged with illegal use, driving in a dangerous manner, excessive speed and failing to stop after an accident.

He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.

His passenger, a Port Lincoln boy, 15, was arrested and charged with illegal use. He was bailed to appear in youth court at a later date.

The car, which was reported stolen from an address in West Croydon last week, car was seized for examination.

Meanwhile, a man is in hospital and a suspect remains at large after a stabbing in Rosewater.

Police and paramedics rushed to Grand Junction Rd near Newcastle St about 6.30pm Thursday where they found a man with a stab wound to his back.

The Rosewater man, 53, was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives will speak with the victim further after his injuries were treated in hospital.
