Cafe Settebello Golden Grove announces sudden closure after nine months in operation

A popular Italian cafe will shut down after only nine months of operation, much to the shock of its regular customers.

A popular northern suburbs cafe and restaurant has announced its sudden closure to make way for an expansion of an Adelaide breakfast chain.

Cafe Settebello Golden Grove, formerly the Verona Cafe Ristorante, was bought by Cafe Settebello owners Rami and Lisa at the end of 2024, only owning the store for nine months before making the decision to close.

“It’s with a heavy heart Lisa and I would like to let everyone know that we will be closing the cafe down this Sunday,” Rami wrote on the cafe’s Facebook page.

“We have tried really hard to make this cafe successful but it has had to come to this.”

Rami thanked the community for their support, and said the original Campbelltown Cafe Settebello would continue to operate.

Patrons of the restaurant expressed their disappointment at its closure.

“This makes me so sad,” one commenter wrote.

“We’ve been there many times but I think this is indicative of our current social environment.”

“Settebello is a beautiful restaurant and we have loved eating here,” another said.

“Really wished the Golden Grove community got behind you more.”

The owners of Cafe Settebello were contacted by The Advertiser for comment.

Cafe Settebello Golden Grove will be replaced by The Original Pancake Kitchen, which will open in the location on August 4.

The CBD Pancake Kitchen store is currently owned by 7News reporter Mitchell Sariovski, who bought the store with partner Lauren Bent in January.
