An 18-year-old girl who was allegedly busted with a significant amount of drugs, guns and cash alongside her 45-year-old partner has won a bid to be released on home detention bail.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday morning, Magistrate Christopher Smolicz agreed to release Ava Wheaton from custody to live with her grandparents following her arrest earlier this month.

Ms Wheaton, of Redwood Park, has been charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled drug, money laundering and possessing firearms without a licence.

Her partner, Jovan Trandafilov, 45 of Ingle Farm, is facing identical charges.

The charges arise from a police search of an Ingle Farm home on Thursday.

Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch searched a Ingle Farm home and found about 125gms of methamphetamine, 134 tablets of suboxone, $41,250 cash and three gel blaster firearms.

Following the search, the prohibited items were seized.

In considering bail on Monday, Mr Smolicz said a home detention inquiry report had returned in favour of Ms Wheaton being released back into the community, but her co-accused had made no application for bail.

He said it was a “complicated matter” if she had been residing at the same address as her co-accused, but Kate Opolski, for Ms Wheaton, assured the court her client was normally residing at her grandparent’s home.

“I’d ask Your Honour to view it as she was staying at the house, not residing there,” Ms Opolski said.

“She was staying at her partner’s house at the time. It’s not her house.”

The police prosecutor remained opposed to Ms Wheaton’s release on bail due to the serious nature of the alleged offending, but Mr Smolicz said she had no criminal history.

“She is 18-years-old. She was in this house with a significantly older male with a significant criminal history,” I’m concerned about the circumstances she’s placed herself in and that something she can explore with a lawyer, but it suggests she is a suitable candidate for bail.

He also said that if her case went to trial in the District Court, she would be spending a significant of time in custody before it was heard.

He released Ms Wheaton on strict home detention bail, with conditions including that she make no contact with Mr Trandafilov and be electronically monitored.

Both Ms Wheaton and Mr Trandafilov will return to court in January.
