The principal at a private school in the northern suburbs has informed parents that a teacher working on the campus was arrested for on a child abuse charge.
On Wednesday, a letter went out to families informing them that a teacher from one of the school’s campuses had been “arrested by police and charged with sexual abuse of a child”.
“The teacher has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the police investigation and prosecution.”
The letter also revealed the alleged offending did not happen at their school.
“The information available to the school suggests that there is no need for any concern for students.”
The principal then asked parents not to share the news, but said a relief teacher had been appointed and classes will proceed as normal.
“I understand that this may lead to questions and concerns among students, staff and families. Please know that support is available for anyone who needs it,” they said.
“I ask for your prayers for all those affected and for wisdom and discernment as we navigate the days ahead.”
SA Police on Wednesday confirmed detectives from the Northern District Criminal Investigation Branch arrested a 24-year-old woman from the northeastern suburbs.
She has been charged with the sexual abuse of a child, with the alleged offending occurring in 2023.
The woman was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in June.
