SCHOOLS are open in Toowoomba today, students and parents are reminded.
There was some confusion about whether schools in Toowoomba would be open after Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk yesterday announced on social media that all schools in south-east Queensland would be closed today.
But Toowoomba schools are in the Darling Downs South West Region, so will not be automatically closed like some other regions.
CHECK THE LATEST CLOSURES HERE
Any schools across the Darling Downs that were closed yesterday due to extreme weather will be closed today.
Schools in the Toowoomba region were closed due to a public holiday, not the weather event and therefore are not impacted.
There were no Toowoomba schools listed by the Department of Education and Training on its emergency school closure list at 7.35am today.
Today is the last day of school before the Easter holidays.

Safety appears to be the main concern and parents are urged to check the department's website, which is continually being updated.
As yet no Toowoomba region schools have been listed, but that could change.
"Parents should continue to check the website for school closures this afternoon as it is updated regularly - closures.det.qld.gov.au," a spokesman for the department said.
"The Department is strongly urging parents to check local weather conditions and road access, and put their safety - and that of their children - above all else."
Some schools have taken the measure of announcing they will be open on social media.
