Mount Isa drug arrests: Six arrested in operation Uniform Truro

A series of North Queensland drug busts have ended with six arrests including one woman who was allegedly found with $60k worth of meth in her car.

A series of North Queensland drug busts have ended with six arrests including one woman who was allegedly found with $60,000 worth of meth in her car.

Seventy charges were laid on six people by police from the Mount Isa District Tactical Crime Squad as part of operation Uniform Truro.

The operation aimed to deconstruct drug syndicates operating in the Mount Isa district.

Officer in charge of the Mount Isa District Tactical Crime Squad Sergeant Joel Bryant said investigations into drug supply in the Mount Isa district would continue, and that he anticipated further arrests.

“There are people out there who should be nervous because they can expect a knock on the door, or a vehicle intercept, as we have more investigations underway,” Sergeant Bryant said.

Those charged included:

After a search warrant was executed at a Kurrajong St, Parkside address, police found quantities of meth and drug paraphernalia. A 32-year-old man was charged on September 26 with trafficking methylamphetamine, possesing dangerous drugs exceeding schedule three (methylamphetamines), possessing things used in a drug crime, dealing in proceeds of crime in excess of $10,000, and dealing with property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime. He will appear before Mount Isa Magistrates Court on October 17.

A 45-year-old Pioneer man was arrested after police allege they found a quantity of meth secreted behind the dash of his vehicle, as well as cash and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possessing dangerous drugs exceeding schedule three (methylamphetamines), possessing utensils, possessing property reasonably suspected used in a drug offence, and possessing tainted property. He was remanded in custody and will appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on October 17.

A 33-year-old Winston woman was allegedly found with a quantity of meth with a street value exceeding $60k, a quantity of testosterone and drug paraphernalia during a tactical intercept on Milne Bay Road, Soldiers Hill. She was arrested and charged on October 8 with possessing dangerous drugs, exceeding schedule three (meth), possesing dangerous drugs (testosterone), supplying dangerous drugs (meth), possessing property reasonably suspected used in a drug offence, and possessing utensils. She was remanded in custody.

On October 10, A 29-year-old Winston man was charged with six counts of supplying meth, one count of supplying lysergic acid, and two counts each of possessing things used in the commission of a crime, possessing property reasonably suspected of being used in a drug offence, and utensils. He was released from custody on bail and will appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on November 23.  

On October 11 a 29-year-old Pioneer woman was arrested after a protracted investigation. She was charged with 14 counts of supplying a dangerous drug (cannabis), one count of trafficking a dangerous drug (cannabis), contravening an order about information necessary to access stored electronically, and money laundering. Police with the assistance of a forensic accountant had identified an excess of $350k of unexplained wealth they allege was the proceeds of crime. She was released on bail and will appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on November 28.

A 39-year-old Menzies woman was also arrested and charged on October 12 with two counts of trafficking methylamphetamine cannabis, 24 counts of supply (meth, cannabis and cocaine), and two counts of possessing a thing used in the commission of a crime. She will appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on October 13.
